🎨 Create Without Constraints 🎨 Whether you have a project in mind or just want to explore your creativity, this is the place for you. No need to plan ahead – just come, unwind, and see what unfolds. There’s loads of space. The studio, the gazebo and the whole yard and farm to stretch out into. Feel free to spend the whole time sketching from the bench by the pond, or painting a ram, if you like.

👩‍🎨 Support and Community 👩‍🎨 This unsupervised group is ideal for those who have attended my workshops or feel confident working independently. I’ll be around for chats and occasional tips while working on my own projects. Come with friends, or make new ones. Chat as much as you like, or put your headphones in. Do creativity your way!

🧘‍♀️ Find Inner Calm and Balance 🧘‍♀️ Creativity is a path to inner calm and balance. Prioritise this time for yourself to reconnect with your unique voice and build confidence in your creative expression.

🌟 Convenience and Comfort 🌟 Sessions are two hours long, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Feel free to arrive late or leave early – the atmosphere is relaxed and flexible. I have kimonos to protect you clothes and will also provide some snacks and unlimited tea and coffee. Feel free to bring dinner / snacks / drinks of any kind: I have glasses for wine if desired.

**Your guide**
Georgie Mason is a multi-disciplinary artist, working mainly with sculpture and found objects.  She exhibits regularly in the UK and abroad; previous venues include The Royal Academy of Art in London, PADA in Portugal and The Museum of Goa in India. She has recently completed an MA in Fine Art at City & Guilds University.  

Knowing first-hand the mental & emotional benefits of creative expression, Georgie is passionate about de-mystifying the art world and helping people find their unique creative voice. Over the past ten years, she has guided hundreds of individuals both from her studio, festivals such as Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place, and at corporate away-days. She has also worked with businesses such as Zoopla and Google DeepMind, tapping into the importance of individuals and teams alike to discover the rewards of getting creative!

**Who's it for?**

Weekend Workshops are aimed at anyone - individuals, couples, friends, families - who would like to get creative but lacks either the space, materials or motivation to get started. 

The workshop taps into the wellbeing benefits of creativity too, so whether you’re a mindfulness newbie or a seasoned meditator, you’ll soak up the effects of art-making in nature.

The class is suitable for any level, from complete beginners to more experienced artists. The maximum class size is ten so I can give you as much individual attention as desired. 
   

**What happens?**

Whether you want to create an artwork for your living room wall, make a unique gift for a friend, or just reconnect with your creative side, this is a space you can do just that.  Each month there will be a loose theme to help provoke thoughts and inspiration.

Once everyone has arrived at my studio, we’ll wander around the farm, sketching animals and plants. I’ll guide you through a series of arty exercises to loosen up, move out of the ‘left-brain’ and get the creative juices flowing. 

Back in the studio, I will guide you through the process of creating your artwork, with teaching tips along the way.  I’ll demonstrate various techniques and tips, from painting with mud and sawdust, to splashing paint Pollock style! 

I'll walk you through the process of building texture, colour-mixing, mark-making and learning how to work intuitively. The focus is always on the creative process as much as the outcome.

We'll have a lunch break at 12.45 - either a seasonal salad from the award-winning cafe onsite, or the farmer's market (open on Saturdays).

For the rest of the session, you'll continue painting! I’ll be on hand all the time, whether you need some help mixing a certain shade of purple, or a little reminder to detach from that inner perfectionist. I’ve got you!


**What will I get out of the class?**

Lots of things! Creativity is proven to decrease anxiety, decrease your heart rate, boost mood and regulate the nervous system. 

Also, this is a creative sanctuary, a space to disconnect from busy life and be freely yourself. You’ll meet like-minded people and have a wholesome, creative time amongst nature, complimented by good chats and tea/coffee! 			
	
By the end, you will have connected with your creativity in a peaceful, green oasis; built your confidence in your own expression; exercised the right side of the brain; met some lovely people, and learnt a new perspective on art-making.

You will take home not only a unique painting to hang on the wall, but also a sense of clarity, peace, and maybe even a sense of that child-like joy we all yearn for!

Weekend Workshops are held at Georgie's studio at Stepney City Farm; a three-acre rural oasis, ten minutes from Liverpool Street.  It’s home to donkeys, pigs, bunnies and even a ferret. You will feel far from the city in this peaceful, green paradise!You will feel you have left the city in this peaceful, green paradise!

Please note: Stepney Farm is NOT Hackney City Farm!


**What’s the minimum age?**

I usually say 18+, but you are a mature 16 year old I’ll be likely to make allowances, just get in touch.  I do offer teen creative mentoring too so just send me an email / book a free call to assess what’s best


**What’s included?**

- All materials including a 50 x 40cm canvas, acrylic paints, dry materials & textures (£8 extra if you want to use oils)
- Art guidance and tuition, for any experience level
- Tour of the farm and animals
- Unlimited tea, coffee & snacks
- Meet like-minded people and have a lovely restorative day!


**Private bookings**

If you want to book a private session of between 6-10 people you can do so on Obby, however if you would like a smaller group (between 2-5 people) please just get in touch to arrange directly. 

For private groups children aged 5+ are welcome.

We had a good chat about ideas for my painting and she gave me lots of ideas that aided my own creativity (I may have never thought to add texture with polyfilla otherwise!). The studio itself is in a lovely setting overlooking the farm with pigs, goats and hens. There is a farmers market too with lots of tasty offerings. The venue is really lovely in the Stepney City Farm.  The studio is very bright and filled with art and there is a farmer's market every Saturday.  The farm also has a terrific on-site cafe with a very healthy menu and great food. I had some fine art training many years ago so I wanted a studio where I could go and get some inspiration and guidance in picking up painting again.  Georgie has been really helpful in getting me started again and I've gone multiple times to work on different pieces. Im primarily a photographer who’s recently taken to drawing. My three children decided I needed to broaden my horizons and sample painting and so they gifted a session with Georgie at her studio at Stepney City Farm.
Georgie exudes kindness and mindfulness, and is warm and welcoming. She’s at one with nature and a wonderfully talented artist, and she combines both to create wondrous works. Her studio is full of inspiring works, materials and books and it’s impossible not to be positively encouraged by both her and her studio. 
I’ve come away from the class full of enthusiasm and an eagerness to develop my painting skills further and I’d firmly recommend a session with Georgie if like me, you need that gentle nudge to push out a personal boundary. I’d imagine that seasoned artists would also be inspired by Georgie’s approach to her art and use of different materials including many from the farm itself.

This is my 2nd time at this class, Georgie is absolutely amazing and inspiring, it is such great fun and certainly helps getting your creativity on, if like me you work in the corporate world it is sometimes hard to switch off and get creative.  Highly recommend!

This was a relaxed, friendly class in a gorgeous setting. As well as painting our own canvas (with the freedom to depict whatever you liked on the theme of ‘hope’), this varied session blended together mindfulness and a few sketching ‘warm up’ tasks around the farm. Georgie demonstrates some mixed media / texture techniques but really encourages you to express ourselves with no ‘right or wrong’, which makes the class feel accessible even to total beginners. Chatting with the other students in the friendly group of six was also a highlight. What a therapeutic and and inspiring way to spend a Saturday!

Get creative in an artist's studio at a farm in East London.  No experience necessary 

Weekend Workshops

This class is aimed to give children from all backgrounds  a chance to experiment, have fun and get creative in abstract artist Georgie Mason's studio on Stepney City Farm.  The classes are grouped into different age-groups, please book relevant date:

29.7.24 > 9-12 year olds
19.8.24   > 4-8 year olds

[Georgie] (https://www.georgiemason.co.uk/childrens-workshops) believes learning to explore and follow one's intuition from a young age is crucial to a healthy and rich development into adulthood. This class provides a safe space for children to get messy, meet others, be in a rural environment and most importantly, be themselves :)

The class is 1.5 hours long and begins with a wander round the farm, sketching things we see including the animals. Then we will head into the studio and start with some warm up exercises - for example expressive mark making to various different styles of music, collaborative pieces aka 'Squiggle Drawings', and drawing each other without taking the pen off the page - all great ice-breakers :)

Then we will work on a larger collaborative piece inspired by the farm - either the animals or the plants/trees. Finally we will each work on our own piece inspired by what we've learnt.  Children will be able to take home a final piece that they have created.

Georgie has taught art to children for over 10 years in various locations across the UK. She loves working with kids and is hugely inspired by their energy and imagination.  She looks forward to welcoming your children to the studio.

Paint on a Farm for Children

My two girls (5 & 6 y/o) loved Georgie and her class. They were nervous at first but soon could not wait to try the next activity that Georgie had in store. It was a great morning of art and thinking, and using natural materials as subjects and texture in their art. The venue was also perfect as parents and peruse the local farmers market while the kids get artsy and the farm serves as attraction and inspiration

My  girls aged 8 and 11  joined one of Georgie Mason's painting classes this week.  They had a wonderful time learning about painting techniques and how to include a range of texture into their artwork. They had so much fun during the 2 hour session and each produced 2 brilliant canvases to bring home.  Georgie was very kind and patient and my girls  were absolutely delighted by the whole experience. I highly recommend her classes.
